Original "Dawn" Linocut Print on linen by Matthew Allen. This original 16"x24" hand carved linocut print by Southern California artist Matthew Allen was created for his Impressions art show alongside ceramicist Logan Wannamaker, at Folklore in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The art is framed in walnut hardwood. Inspired by the landscape of Santa Fe, this artwork was created using linocut printing on raw linen canvas fabric. The unevenness of the pressed ink on the fabric's weave adds texture details within a simple landscape composition. Matthew allows his flowing line work to represent different natural elements across his body of work. In this context the lines act as fog laying over the morning hills.
