Original 22"x33" "Seven Swell Sea" Vintage Marine Salvage Linocut Print

Southern California artist Matthew Allen sources vintage sails and marine canvas and brings them new life as pieces of art. The main part of this "Seven Swell Sea" wall hanging was cut from a salvaged kite bag. The circle was cut from the bottom of a sail bag and Matthew imprinted it with a hand carved linocut print. That print was then sewn onto the the other fabric. "Seven Swell Sea" is a 1 color print, hand transferred from hand carved linocut plates.

A former Surfer Magazine Art Director, Matthew is also the co-creator of the now retired boutique surf brand The Ryde. Much of his fine art and photography revolves around beach and surf culture. Matthew spends his days shooting photos and making art as well as creating illustrations for clients such as Ford Motor Company, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Ron Herman, Champion, Vans, Bon Appetit, Food and Wine, and the Anaheim Ducks. Most of his other waking hours are spent surfing and making music.
