This perfect day surf photo is a reproduction of Southern California artist Matthew Allen's surf photography. After a mid morning surf Matthew posted up in his van to draw and wait. The wind models showed that later in the day the winds where apt to shift and howl offshore from the northeast. The weather delivered as promised and as the wind gusts shock his van and blew dust through the parking lot Matthew grabbed his board and his camera, and hiked off to his favorite point break. Matthew dropped his board on the beach and started taking photos, the silhouettes of surfers backed by water, sprayed by the wind, illuminated by the evening sun. Matthew captured these moments until he could hold out no longer, and suited up to catch some waves of his own. This image was taken on that day. The former Surfer Magazine Art Director is also the co-creator of the now retired boutique surf brand The Ryde. Much of his fine art and photography revolves around beach and surf culture. Matthew spends his days shooting photos and making art as well as creating illustrations for clients such as UNIQLO, Ford Motor Company, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Ron Herman, Champion, Vans, Bon Appetit, Food and Wine, and the Anaheim Ducks. Most of his other waking hours are spent surfing and making music.
